Have you ever visited a botánica, received a limpia, or turned to traditional healing in your life? Whether your experience was passed down through family, discovered in a moment of need, sparked by curiosity, or shaped by cultural or spiritual connection, I invite you to share your story!
There is no one way to experience healing, so with your help we can paint a fuller picture of what traditional healing is today. Remember it is our voice that helps keep these traditions alive, respected, and visible.
You’re welcome to write a few lines, a detailed story, a botánica/practice recommendation, or even something you’re still processing.
If you’re stuck consider some of the following:
What brought you to the botánica?
- What were you seeking—physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
Who guided you? What kind of guidance did you seek?
- Was it a curandera, santero, loved one, yourself?
- What moments, advice, or remedies stayed with you?
How has this experience shaped your sense of wellness today?
- Has it influenced how you care for yourself and/or others?
How did you find out about this practice or botánica?
- Did you find it online? Was it recommended by a friend/loved one?
Share as much or as little as you’d like, or feel free to email me your story kangu2@uic.edu it is all appreciated 🙂
