Botánica San Cono

12301 Western Ave Unit C, Blue Island, IL 60406

Botánica San Cono is a community space where people come to find both spiritual guidance and natural healing. Whether it’s a traditional remedy or a spiritual tool, the botánica provides a place where individuals can explore different ways to improve their well-being.

Jackie, a practitioner at the botánica, believes that healing is not just about physical care but also about finding balance. When it comes to healing, she believes that a balance between spiritual healing and physical remedies are equally as important, explaining that both forms are a complement. She explains, “you go to a doctor when the doctor’s going to take care of your body. But sometimes you drink medications, and some of those medications will take time or are more expensive. Or you can try an herbal remedy. It can kind of help you the same way. It won’t cost as much.”

However, Jackie makes it clear though that these remedies are not meant to replace medical care, but can offer support: “We’re not doctors,” and “You should go to the doctor” she continually emphasizes. “But if you come in with a headache and you’ve already seen someone or you just want to try something gentle, maybe a calming tea will help you relax before bed. Maybe it’ll ease your anxiety or help with stress. We’re here to offer that kind of support.”

Beyond the herbal remedies, people often come in looking for other spiritual tools like candles, oils, prayer cards, or come seeking spiritual guidance and comfort. Jackie mentioned that spirituality is personal and can involve a connection to one’s higher self, ancestors, or guides noting “It’s that gut feeling, that inner voice. Some people find that connection through saints—maybe Yoruba or Greek deities, or guardian angels. It’s personal. It’s what feels right to you.”

While some people come with skepticism, many leave with an open mind. “A lot of people research herbs or remedies before they come in, and we just give them a little more direction,” she says. “It’s really about finding what works for you.” Essentially, the botánica is about giving people the space to explore different healing options without pressure.

Jackie is also quick to remind people that most of the herbs she sells are available in any grocery store or online. “They’re accessible,” she says. “But people come here because they know we’ll talk to them about what something’s for, how to use it. There’s a personal connection. It’s a different kind of trust.”

At the end of the day, Botanica San Cono offers a space where people can come to find balance, healing, and a sense of connection,“It’s a safe space for everyone.”
